Pre-course Survey

I have never done a precourse survey, but I usually ask my students for their expectations at the beginning of a class. I think I will use a survey like this -

    Jim,

    Very nice survey! I liked #10 because you allowed the students an area to comment or ask questions that may have been prompted from your survey.

    I've always liked an open area to leave comments. This may be a good thing to add to mine.

    Jim - I liked that you asked students to define microeconomics - that way you find out if they have any clue right off the bat. I also liked that you asked what they are most and least looking forward to. If I ask my 8th graders what they're least looking forward to, they say, "The work!" :>
